M485-PIRTEMP-in module includes a 1-channel passive infrared (PIR) sensor, which is capable of detecting infrared waves generated by people within a range of about 8 meters in diameter with a 360 ° coverage area. M485-PIRTEMP-I used for indoor motion detection and can be configured to automatically turn on a light when motion is detected. M485-PIRTEMP-in module also contains a 1-channel temperature sensor that can be used for measuring the room temperature, or can be configured to activate a fire alarm. All communication with the M485-PIRTEMP-in module consists of commands generated by coughing and answers transmitted from the M485-PIRTEMP-In module. Each module is assigned a unique ID number which is used for addressing purposes and is stored in the module's flash memory. The module ID number is set by default to 01 and can be changed by sending a user command. All commands to the modules contains the ID number as the address, which means that only the addressed module will
answer. DCON commands is simple and starts with a "start" character followed by the "module address" (ID) (the module desired response from) followed by "Command" and a "checksum", ends with a CR (carriage return). The answer from the module containing data instead of Command. No module will on its own initiative send data on the RS485 bus. It is only cough which controls communication (polling principle). MODBUS communication is also a defined and widely used protocol.
