    One can not normally connect the COM ports on two PCs hinaden as they both are of the DTE (see Ch. 12), but using a null modem cable can be done. Nullmodemkablet "crossing" the transmit and receive lines, then two DTE devices (PCs or other terminals) or two DCEs can be put together. In addition, Windows direct cable connection via the serial port. At each end there is mounted one DB9 DB25 female connector and one female connector, so that the cable may be used on personal computers with both types of serial ports.
