A riser card is a circuit board that captures a large number of signal lines in a single connector (usually an edge connector) on a motherboard and distributes them via the connector on the card. A riser card is a card that plugs into the motherboard and provides additional places for adapter cards. When it rises over the system board, it can connect additional adapters to the system in a direction parallel to the system board and can save space in the system house.
